"The most satisfying part of my career is getting to know people while giving the gift of sight. To dramatically affect a person's life in such a brief period of time is truly a blessing."
- Michael B. Brenner., M.D., F.I.C.S.
Michael B. Brenner, MD, FICS, board certified ophthalmologist and native to southern California, takes pride in his ability to provide visual enhancement, preservation and restoration for his patients…not to mention all of his family and friends! After graduating from UCLA School of Medicine and upon completing residencies in internal medicine and ophthalmology, Dr. Brenner was honored to have been accepted as the Abe Meyer visiting assistant professor at the Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles. There he completed an intensive fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. Since then, he has engaged in many research and clinical activities to advance the field of vision corrective surgery.
For more than a decade, Dr. Brenner has advanced technologies in all aspects of Laser Vision Correction throughout Los
Angeles and Orange Counties. He is also Clinical Adjunct Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry and is
currently involved with hands-on student training in the field of refractive surgery management. In addition, he maintains a
thriving referral based practice specializing in Anterior Segment Surgery in Long Beach that boasts a 40-year presence in the

with academic and community-based optometric practices.
He has performed in excess of 25,000 LASIK and other refractive eye procedures over the last 15 years most of which occurring
within the comanagement arena. With the increasing scope of practice within the field of Optometry, many southland doctors
have completed preceptorships with Dr. Brenner greatly benefiting from his knowledge and unique patient management skills.
This will afford them the opportunity of bringing new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities into their own practices.
Dr. Brenner is a Fellow of both the International College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In addition
he is a regular contributing author and speaker of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the
International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) as well as the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).
He currently serves as an FDA clinical investigator for new intraocular lens designs and maintains his position at the forefront
of new refractive surgical procedures including:
- Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) to correct high myopia and astigmatism
- NearVision CK (Conductive Keratoplasty) to correct hyperopia and presbyopia
- Surgical correction of presbyopia with the FDA-approved accomodating crystalens® and the ReSTOR® Lens.
- The use of Intacs for Kerataconus and Corneal Ectasias
Wherever you find him operating, he characteristically provides the highest level of patient care and comfort while
maintaining an enriching teaching environment. Optometrists and their staff are always welcome to join Dr. Brenner at one of
the centers for any level of interactive educational experiences surrounding surgical eye care. Those who know Dr. Brenner and
